Satnav thinking

I listen to a lot of Podcasts (my wife would probably say too many) and whilst listening to some I often drift off into my own little world. During these fade outs I often come up with thoughts and ideas that I like to record to review later.
This week whilst driving I had one of those moments....
My thoughts had (once again) turned to success and how to achieve it, at the same time I was considering the route I was taking on the journey home which the Satnav was ably guiding me through.
What if we could use a Satnav to guide us to success!

Below are my thoughts of how you could use Satnav thinking to help push you towards your success.

  1.  Searching for Satellites ~  When you first switch on a gps the system has to search for satellites. The system needs to know where it is before it can know where to go. In the same way you must know where you are; this may mean doing a full review of your finances, looking at your current employment, reviewing your physical condition.
  2.  Enter your destination ~ Yeah it's time to tell the Satnav where you want to go. In the same way if you don't know where you want to go or want to achieve you can never hope to get there. Take the time to consider your ultimate destination at the start of everyday.
  3. Re-routing ~ When roadblocks crop up satnav sends you off in the on the next best available route. When circumstances change you must adapt your plans to continue towards your goal. This correcting of your course is what will get you to your goal in the quickest and easiest way.
  4.  Searching for quickest route ~ The Satnav will go through every possible route to determine the quickest way home. This is where you must come up with your plan on how you will achieve your goal; do you need to invest money, do you need to do physical training, should you quit your job.
Well hopefully this has provided some incite into the beginning thoughts of Satnav thinking.
Back to thoughts of retirement in the next post as i've been doing some serious thinking and planning.

My goals.

Here is a list of some of my goals and what I currently have going towards trying to achieve them.

The one thing:- retire by 50 (with £****** invested to give £**** per month income)

By the end of 2020:- purchase four houses for rental income to return £*** per month.

By January 2017:- an extra £***** in available savings.

Currently I'm :- saving £*** per month into my savings
                      :- investing £*** into shares
:- putting £*** into my work retirement policy
:- buying £*** shares through my employer.

Being done with work by 50

So here it is, hopefully a record of the steps I take to retire by fifty.
To make things clear, I'm 34 (and a half) so I have roughly 15 years to go. This, it turns out is not a long time to get ready for retirement!

I guess I'll talk about other goals I have along the way, review the books I read (30 last year) and generally ramble on about anything else that takes my fancy.

I travel a fair bit for work so there may be some travel stuff as well.
